We leave from the bullring, which is very close to Trinity School, usually about 18:00. A representative of the school will go with the group and will show them the most important and typical places in El Puerto de Santa María. We will go through the history of our city, from its foundation after the war of Troy until nowadays. Many old civilizations have settled in this area through the centuries, we can still see a lot of them: San Marcos Castle, also known as ‘el Castillito’, the Prioral Church... and also many house-palaces from the 17th century, that’s why El Puerto de Santa María is known as ‘the city of the 100 palaces’.

This medieval castle, with more than 10 centuries of history, surprises for the great contrast between its outside and its inside. Our castle has been witness to some of the most important events in history: the Reconquest in the 13th century, the discovery of the New World by Christopher Columbus and the Spanish Civil War. The castle has played an important role in all of them. The history of San Marcos Castle is a reflection of the history of El Puerto de Santa María, Spain and the world.
